Finding My Bearings

A friend and I have recently founded a small camp/village, yet we have no idea we are (on the larger scale). Is there any way we can figure out where exactly we are or where any major cities are?

If you happen to recognize your location on this map, you're pretty close to the center of the world and civilization; look for Constantinople or something if you'd like to meet people and travel to other cities (though I've never been, myself).

Other than that...the only scientific way to figure out your position is to head to multiple edges of the world and estimate your distance. You can also ask someone on the forum to form a party with you in-game, which should point you to them.
