rope and mining

i'm new to this game, and i was wandering how to make rope. i have been told how to but i still dont understand someone pleas help me. the other thing is mining, i dont get how to do that. if possible help me with that to.

To make rope you first need to collect 10 bits of string, String can be the first root you find on the ground, it can be plant fibers and a few other things. Check the wiki if you are unsure. http://havenandhearth.wikia.com/wiki/Ha ... earth_Wiki

As for mining, you need to find a mine first of all and have the mining skill. Finding a mine how ever is ridiculous, I spent a good two hours yesterday wandering about with the rustroot extract (the item you need to locate a mine) and didn't find squat, so you wont be doing any mining for a while anyways.
