Just another Mine thread.

Postby D00mHouse » Sat Jun 19, 2010 11:05 am

I have been playing Haven and hearth for about 2 weeks now, and me and my buddies want to go find a mine, and I have enough rustroot extract to be able to locate one (I think 4L should be plenty). We are planning on using boats to get to one, and will probably be river hopping. But, my question is, what general direction should we travel to find areas with unclaimed mines, and how long should it take to get there? I was thinking of going SW. I believe we are near the centre of the world (We are right by the city "Soviet Russia" if that helps). Any general tips/hints about obtaining a mine would be appreciated too.

If you're near the centre of the world, pick any direction and keep going till you hit the edge of the map. You'll reach the edge faster if you pick a cardinal direction (ie N, S, E or W) rather than SW. Expect it to still take multiple RL days. Once you reach the edge back away from it half a supergrid, and then walk parallel to it and prospect every 20 minutes.

Back away from it up to (ideally though) half a supergrid. Try looking for caves, too, I don't think prospecting picks up cave mines from outside.

I have heard that the rivers don't connect super grids. Would it be fairly easy to hop rivers across a SG? and I will probably start prospecting once I start to see little to no people (if it ever happens)
