Need Gauze, Very Badly

Postby danyull » Sun Jun 20, 2010 3:42 am

So I have about 20 HP left and I can't walk anywhere without fainting from thorns in my feet (I have no shoes.) I have no way of getting very far past my Hearthfire, and I need to figure out how to get gauze. Can anyone help?

Should start by chopping a tree down for a block to make new clogs. They're super easy to make.

The best method for getting gauze quickly would be to pump your exploration up as best you can, find some grassland, and get some clovers. 40 exploration should do it if you can get some perception points.

Also, honestly, HP is not integral here. Once you get a decent camp up, build a roundpole fence, and have crops going and what not, you really won't come under attack often enough to really be in danger.

I suggest not stressing it, trying to get a good camp up, and raising your exploration and perception as best you can until you can get enough taproot/nettle for a loom and clovers for wool.

Clogs are wooden shoes. They are the shoes you wear from the start. You can make new ones from the craft menu. They take two wooden blocks to make.

Leeches (which can be found in swamps) are useful for getting your Hard health points up. They increase your hard health when they become bloated but they drain your soft health before they become bloated. I would not suggest using leeches if you are very hungry or starving though, as your soft health will not regenerate, and leeches can make your situation worse if you are not regenerating health.

You can also ask a neighbour for help, that is, if you have one.

Learn the basics. Get lumberjacking and carpentry, make you an axe (Branch and a stone) and a saw (branch and a bone from a rabbit you can catch). Cut a tree down, make blocks from one of the logs, craft > clogs and put them on.

Do you have any idea where you are? If you are near to me or one of my alts it might be possible for me to run you over a gauze.

You could also get hunting and very patiently wait until two rabbits come close enough for you to grab. Then dry the hides on a drying frame and make bunny slippers.

I don't believe you can pick up thorns in either a marsh or in shallow water. If you are close to either you can cover more territory without risk while looking for those rabbits, or those clovers.
