Any signs that a lake is nearby?

Postby footwo » Sun Jun 27, 2010 2:55 pm

I'm trying to find a lake so I can attempt to get some Plaice as I desperately want to up my perception. I've sailed around for hours in my local area and all I see is river, river, river. How can I tell when I'm near or indeed in a lake?

I'd recommend trying to find some carrots instead. :)

EDIT: There are no geographical indicators of a nearby lake apart from the lake itself.

EDIT: And lakes are no more likely to give plaice than is any other fishing spot.

Yeah I've been looking for carrots as well but I can only eat the raw vegetables, I'm a long way off being able to make the cake since I don't fancy taming any cows yet, they would murder me.

I read on the wiki that Plaice show up in lake shallows, it didn't mention rivers. I take it that info is outdated then?

If I should be catching them in rivers too do I need to use a particular bait/lure cos so far all I catch is a buttload of brill and roach :/

The wiki is probably wrong, quite simply.

As to what bait you should use I, by design, do not have a clue. :)

Jorb is correct, the Wiki's info on fish may be a bit questionable at times.

I second his suggestion for carrots, especially if you can find wheat and clovers/aurochs/butter for carrot cake. If you can make carrot cake, your perception will go through the roof in no time.

I did find a 4 leaf clover yesterday, I'm supposed to feed it to an auroch right? I'm not even sure what they look like. But if I feed it a clover, does that allow me to milk it? Can I only milk it once?

you get 2 liters of milk per clover, which is 2 butters, or 2 carrot cakes. some people say this is easier than taming and raising your own cows, i disagree. one thing you could try doing is walking around until you find an advanced looking village, see if you could barter with them for a milk cow, or give them something in exchange for taming you a cow and bull. dunno what others would want for this but i would tame a cow and bull (or give up a milk cow) for the price of say 300 bricks

oh yeah the things in the picture below my post are dead aurochs
