Clay isn't regenerating. Wut?

Postby KutanCoon » Mon Jun 28, 2010 9:35 pm

So, I've used clay a lot, but always from pretty low quality areas. Like, 20, or less. I'd be able to fill up 4 chests, the quality would go down 3 or 4 points, and I could come back later in the same day and see that the quality had gone up.

Now, I found a Q51 area, and I was stoked, until I realized that
1) The quality goes down absurdly fast. 4 chests caused a 10 point drop.
2) It's not regenerating. It's been about 16 hours, RL time, and the quality hasn't gone up a point.

So, does high quality clay just not regenerate? Like, will it only regenerate up to a certain quality? If this is the case, do soil or water behave the same way, too?

Thanks for your expert opinions. :?

It will regenerate. I'm not sure but it may regenerate more slowly. Someone else might be harvesting from the same spot too.

Resource regenerating depends on decay hits (or so I'm told). It doesn't just go back up over time, it's just that it's more LIKELY to go back up over time.

And what Chakravanti said. If you have a really high q clay spot, then its area is also really huge so some nob from a minimap away might be digging away at his special q20 clay spot.

I would love to understand what this means. Do you mean that it doesn't regen at a fixed rate (like how builds don't decay at a fixed rate)? But then the way you say it's "LIKELY to go back up over time" suggests that it might not go up over time at all. I are confuse.

Anyway, it's still stuck at the same quality. As for someone else digging the area: not a chance, I don't think. This is butted up against the edge of the world, and there isn't another civilization around for probably ten thousand tiles. Can anyone here verify that they have a high-quality spot of their own, and they've seen it go up?

AFaIK this is not true, q will just regenerate over time. I always seem to forget the exact numbers, but I recall it being 1 q point each day or something.

1q every 8 hours (1ingame day) seems to be the time. Timed it with soil several times.

I'd say that you constantly digging up clay to test the ql keeps lowering the ql again when it does rise.
