OK seriously, where is everyone

Postby foo » Wed Jun 30, 2010 3:49 pm

Everyone keeps talking about trading in constantinople/sodom etc but I have no idea how to get there or where I even am in relation to them.

I've been mapping my local region, so far I have one local map completed and I'm working on the regional but other than finding random abandoned camps and some claimed land here and there I have no idea how I can get to these hubs.

Do people make extensive use of cartography or do they mainly get lucky and find these places whilst exploring? I've sailed north and south for hours from my camp and I have only ever found one actual village and a scattering of abandoned camps/farms.

I'd like to visit these places that appear to be hubs of trade but I can't seem to find a way to find out where they are.

Thanks for any tips.

This thread (linked from the wiki front page as "Known World Map", btw) contains some decent larger maps posted by a few players. There are some links to map images on page 11 (I think?) that I found useful; I think they are mostly of the B2 supergrid, but still show a decent portion of the world -- and they show where Constantinople is relative to a fair amount of land.

Your best bet is to keep searching for an active village and see if they either know where they are, or have crossroads. If they do, and they don't have one to Constantinople, then go to the ones they DO have and see if THOSE villages have one, etc. You'll find a way eventually.
Of another era.

Yeah, no.

Don't use cartography and waste resources and time - print screenshot your minimap and compile it all into a paint file. I'd show you mine, but I learned my lesson - it has some pretty landmarkful places, see. Bad news for me, if I were to post.

Here is everyone, for everyone is I!

Tremble, hearthlings, the great Wotan now descends upon you!
I am the Promised, born to fullfill the universal will of my namesake.
Thusly you rightly may acknowledge the rightful will of Wotan and follow the word foretold!

"And it was written, that out of nowhere a stranger would appear
and then the horsedung hit the frying pan
for he embodied the will of WOTAN, and only he.

In the beginning there was laughter
in the middle there was fight
in the end, thou art victorious
oh mighty WOTAN!"

Learn the wotan song:
w for wilderness
o for omnipotence
t for terror
a for angst
n for normal

Thusly, the Prophecy begins
Wotan is Rising again

Wotan demands a map.
If it has landmarks, just remove them or post a a part of it.

In a way, this game is exactly like Fallout3.
