is it possible to rotate things like the drying frame before I place it? I don't particularly want them all vertical, I'd like to be able to place one horizontally if possible...

A few things can be rotated, such as cupboards. However as it's done by lifting and placing them (they face towards wherever you were standing when you put them down) it only works for liftables, and only specific ones.

I'm sure I've seen a horizontally placed drying frame on my travels and they can't be lifted.
