Decay on claimed land

Postby footwo » Thu Jul 01, 2010 4:30 pm

So I wake up this morning and a crate has vanished, I assume it's decayed and not been stolen since it was on claimed land and only contained some random crap.

Is decay slowed down on claimed land or will things just continue to break down at the normal rate. The weird thing is that the crate didn't even look like it was decaying, it wasn't even the oldest one I've built yet the older ones remain...

Whats the deal?

Claims don't help against decay, but pavement does. Also, low wilderness levels, which you mostly get from villages.

Ok so if I put all my containers down on stone ground they will last longer?

That's good to know

Crates decay in two hits, so it doesn't take much bad luck for one to disappear overnight. Crates are for transportation, not storage.

So what do you recommend I use as containers then?

Chests! :)
If you can't get the metal for those, urns are an easy alternative. They require just clay to build, store as much as a crate and seem to be a lot more robust. Linen crates seem promising too, but I'm not sure yet how much decay they can take. Straw baskets are also nice, they're fairly big and last forever.

Make a log cabin and then inside the log cabin, build some cupboards, it is made up of 64 squares 8x8 and pretty easy to make. :D
