Logging in from where I logged out

I know there is another thread explaining many reasons why doing this doesn't work sometimes, but recently I've had a glitch where after traveling for an hour or more from my house I've not been able to log in where I left off. This has happened in two completely different locations, not close to any land claims, and not lifting any items. I was just standing in the wilderness in an open spot, one time I manually logged out, the other time I AFK'd. Same problem, though. This sucks because I was in the middle of tracking someone and I spent lots of time traveling to get there. Anyone know why this is happening, or does anyone else have this problem?

I suppose it could be a random wild animal that just happens to be standing in that spot...? Have you tried waiting 5-10 minutes and trying again?

still doesn't work, there's no way it could be an animal
