How do I farm? Or find any food for that matter?

I have started in the middle of the forest and after wandering about for some time (and finding no edge to the forest) I decided that I probably need some skills to get food. So some time (and 50 so wooden cups) later I have Foraging, Herb Lore, Farming and Animal Husbandry among others, but still can't plant anything, there's no animals (apart that bear that wandered by while I was just started and scared me shitless. There also was some rabbits wandering around early on but there's none now). The bread I started with ran out I will start starving soon.

What do I do?

Don't worry about starving until your hunger meter goes from Full to Hungry, then to Very Hungry, and finally down to Starving (which takes three times as long as any of the other stages).

Get hunting, stand ontop of chickens/rabbits and right-click to pick them up. Wring, butcher, and cook them, and you're set for food.

Raise your exploration and perception (by eating plaice, or someone else's carrots (don't forget to take some to replant for yourself if you can); there's plenty of abandoned places all over the place from what I've seen, just be courteous enough to replant just in case they're active or become active again), until you can find Wild Windsown Weed, which you can dry on Drying Racks to get random plantable seeds.

Up your explore and find random roots to tide you over until you can punch a couple rabbits.

Find Rabbits. Left click them so your so close you can't move and then right click once to catch them. They require 4 slots in the inventory. To farm find a WW Seed and put it on a drying rack to get a variety of seeds you can plant. You need Exploration 8 to see a fraction of them.

You can also find a river and look for fish along said river, and then fish them with a fishing pole. To get a working fishing pole, however, you need a pole (you start with one), a hook (you need one bone, go kill a rabbit), a string (brown weed looking plants on the ground of forests when you have like 3 exploration so you can find them), and a lure (can be made with one piece of stone). Simply buy fishing and then fish in a spot on the river where you can see jumping fish.

Easiest and best survival food ever = rat-on-a-stick.
Grab rats, put sticks through 'em (branches), light up a fire and you're good to go!

Thanks for advice. Bad news - I haven't found any rabbits. Good news - a found a house and stole pair of chickens from the coop to get some food for the time and bones for saw and other things. To whomever who has house by a lake and has few chickens missing - sorry mate! But I really needed them.

Your advices will help me to get food by myself later, so thank to everyone in this thread.

This food fills 20 units (2%) of the hunger bar, gives 0.2 psyche and 0.8 hurt FEPs.

I believe they do.
