Fixing Palisades

I'm trying to fix a palisade and there are parts missing completely, but not posts. To fill the missing gaps (There is only like 5 maybe), can i just build regular walls or do i have to put posts in those spots? I can't seem to find the button to make anything other than a post.

Right click a tile of palisade next to the missing one, and extend.

Thank you. Glad I asked instead of just building posts.

Edit: Okay can you add more than just one at a time or is wall building supposed to be this slow?
