Clay cauldron - how do i know when its ready?

So i light the fire and i am waiting for it to heat up, how will i know when to put my items in to cook them and when theyll be ready?

Could you be more specific? bubbling so i can put my items in? if so how many? or bubbling when its done?

The cauldron will begin to boil when it is ready to be used. You don't actually put anything in it, you just have the items in your inventory, right click the cauldron so it's info page opens, then click craft on the crafting menu for the thing you wish to make, and it will show the hourglass and begin making the item.

As opposed to the simmering animation, a boiling pot will be barely able to contain the water that is trickling down the sides from all the activity. You'll notice.

Once it hits this state, it'll start losing water if it continues to boil for an extended period of time, so if you're done with it, just pick the thing up and it'll retain the water but stop burning. However, this will result in an empty fuel gauge regardless of how much fuel it had when you picked it up. This is why you shouldn't put that much wood in it unless you're planning to boil a ton of glue for a while (or maybe just an excessive amount of doughnuts) and have more water on hand to top it up.
