Choosing where to start

Every time I turn the game off, it won't let me continue form where I logged out. It gives me the option, but when I click it it does nothing. This has caused me to lose several items as well, seeing as how anything near me or that I'm carrying is lost every time I need to start from my hearth. Is there a way to avoid this happening? Just lost all my metals I had

it doesn't let you log back in in villages that you are not part of and personal claims you dont have full permission on.

I'm not even in other people's area. Since I've been playing, I've only come across one player once on a river and he had what appeared to be good gear so I just ran. I don't even find claimed land that often, and not once have I found claimed land that wasn't decaying and deserted. The last time the servers went down I was in a field all by my lonesome self and now lost my stuff forever

Edit: Actually nevermind. Honestly I lost too much and would spend another 3 or 4 hours just trying to figure our how i got to where i was just to get my stuff back. The final straw was that I lost my Q55 Bear Cape

That's weird. I've always been able to log in from where I logged off, but you may have to own property first? I don't know.

were you carrying a boat or basket when you logged off? That drops down where you were, and prevents you from logging in there.
