Bee Hives?

Postby katchemash » Thu Jul 08, 2010 1:59 am

Well I have two bee hives working for my crops. The problem is this. One produced honey, I got 0.1 liters of it and then it stopped. I don't get any wax. The second one produced honey, I got 0.3 liters and got 2 waxes from it. Why does the first one neither produce honey or waxes? Is it because its on grass and one is on paved stones? Should I rebuild another one?

Bee hives only produce tiny amounts of honey a day, if you want more you just have to wait.

Hives produce honey based on the crops surrounding them. If you are growing a lot of fast growing stuff (carrots) near them, they'll pump out more honey.

Quality and quantity will also be affected if the zones of the hives overlap since they'll be fighting over who gets to pull nectar from the same area.

I think hives gain "charge" per growth stage of a crop, so a crop adds a tick to the meter when it's planted, and then again at each stage of growth. This one's my guess though.

Keep in mind that things like beehives and cows work similarly to how a wine press works. They're pretty much small containers. They hold a set volume of fluid, which you can collect any time there is any present. A given crop changing stages (At least this is how it seems to work from my experience) generates honey. If there are multiple hives both covering this same crop tile, then the one which is highest quality, or if they are the same quality, the one which was built first, will gain honey. However once that hive is full, the next highest/oldest hive will gain honey. If you collect your honey regularly you'll notice you only ever get honey in those same hives, however having multiple in range also allows you to let them go longer, as the overflow will go to the next, and the next.

In short, the only real way to get more honey, is to plant more crops.

Do hives produce wax and honey at the same time, or do you have to stop harvesting honey in order to get wax?

They produce both at the same time, however I've heard that the wax is a bit buggy in a few ways.
