Is there really no way to heal HHP without gauze or leeches?

If so, I might be screwed :\

I've been traveling through the wilderness for ages now trying to reach a new village, and the constant predation by the boars has really taken its toll. It wasn't until I got hit by a bear (so hard that the game crashed and I had to return to a checkpoint hearth fire I'd made earlier) that I realized just the kind of screwed I might be. When I had to return to my hearth fire, I lost my boat, which in turn was carrying most of my supplies, including my precious leeches.

Is there literally nothing I can do to recover my dwindling HHP, save hoping my wanderings take me into a life-giving swamp before the boars are picking at my bones? There's been precious little trace of civilization to beg for succor, and the wildlife, it smells my fear.

I saw one other player outside a curious ruin of a fort that had 'GREETINGS FROM CROATIA' written in paved tiles outside of it. Sadly, he sped off in his rowboat before I had even clicked on Area Chat. Anybody know roughly where this is? I figure it's my best landmark.

No, I don't believe so. I've been bullied by those hellian boars numerous times, and my HHP has yet to rise above 83.

I found some guy who said he was from a nearby village called Seventh Haven, who could only strongly hint that I move along in order not to be killed. I always thought that when a man goes down, you do your best to pick him up~

And maybe you could just make your way back to your property and hope for the best? You'd still have to walk back there, but when you do you're guaranteed more gauze and safety.

leeches and gauze are the only ways you control yourself. there is 1 other way but thats not useful at all: every 1rl day(correct me on time) you restore 1 max hp. yes, its true.

I'm much too far from my property to think of going back, but it's kind of a moot point since I don't have gauze there anyway, or access to it. I'm not nearly far enough along on my former property or my character to find and tame a sheep to get the wool, with which I'd need to get basic mechanics to build a loom to make the gauze with. But enough whining - I'm gradually getting closer, though all the sad animal-infested ruins of former towns are rather foreboding. The last one was indicated by a runestone at the dock, reading 'be nice and we might help you', and so I blithely ran down the road into a mess of rather unkempt crops, demarcated with semi-clever runestones. Then I walked right into the jaws of a bear, and had to hide in the mayor's house (McVeenan or something). Rather fun stuff, looming death notwithstanding. Reminds me a bit of UnReal World, though at least in this game you don't wake up with bears chewing on your head.

I swear, when you are an armorless newbie SHP is pretty much meaningless.

Anyway, here's how I managed to keep my 29 HHP character alive:

1. Raise your exploration and perception
2. Walk around until you stumble upon grasslands
3. Find and pick all the clovers you can
4. Find a pack of mouflons and feed them clovers
5. Get some wool

Now the difficult part is finding a loom... You would probably have to look for an abandoned or unclaimed settlement with one.

6. Make gauze and heal yourself

Also, grasslands are a pretty nice place, there are barely any boars or bears and the lack of trees improves your vision by a lot. If you need a safe place where you can simply settle, try a grassland with a forest nearby so you can get wood.

In a strange way, it's like playing Fallout 3, except with features related to Harvest Moon.

Except in Fallout 3 you could run around with a shotgun blowing everything to pieces, and anytime you were a tad unhealthy you could eat 200 year old food, or main line a stimpac.

Also, if you reboot your computer while playing H&H your crops will grow instantly.

(sorry, I haven't ever regained a hhp just by waiting.)
