Exactly how far away does a village need to be from another?

Theres a village just north west of me, is this too close for me to start my own form my current claim?

Village claims can be close to about 50 tiles apart, but I do not know. I have never tried/heard of it. I guess you could try though

Well I'm a bit of a ways off actually making a village just yet, I was just wondering what the placement rules are. I've got a bad feeling that I'm too close to that other one

why dont you just become meber of that village?

why do you want your own village? are you in a grou of a cuple of players?

You will be able to make a village from that distance.

Oh, wow, PERFECT location.

You can tame animals, you can get mulberries/apples/nuts, and you can also get fir boughs. Impressive.

Once two villages are placed so close together that they overlap. This is in the dispute over the resource node. In that place that overlaps both villagers leave the crime scents if they do anything. I do not know if this is still possible.

Wasn't that caused by the building sign of both villages being placed before they were finished?
