Palisade gate key

So, i now have my palisade gate key and a few questions

1. Does it auto-lock when i right click it or just closes?
2. Do i have to have my key on me to open the door?
3. What happens if i drop my key outside my base?

LOL @ number 3, but what if you hearth spawn back into your base? how will you obtain a new key?

As if you cant equipt it to your self lol. (i havnt lost my key... yet?)

You have to destroy your gate and build a new one in that case. Good luck with that.

If you have just the mould and no nugget to make a key, and you hearth home keyless, how are you getting out to get that metal nu8gget from someone? I'm guessing you don't have a village.

If you really want a backup key you should make an actual key and keep it on an alt. But you should *never* take your key out of your inventory in the first place.

Ah, i see. Well, i am making a spare key just incase an event, which would'nt happen. (btw how much can a Wine Barrel hold?

Keep only one key and always have it on an alt, this is the only way to guarantee your safety. Never run around in the wilderness with a key in your inventory, it is like an invitation for thieves.

My hearthfire is inside my palisade walls so ill just put a key in the cubboard -- so you suggest i leave my gates open when im in the wild? sif we dont have doormats.

No never leave your gate open, that would be an even bigger invitation. I mean let an alt spawn inside your palisades and put the key on him. Whenever you want to get in or our now you will use the alt to open the gate. This way their is no risk of the key being stolen or getting lost.
