Chickens keep escaping

I traveled 2 hours yesterday to find some freaking chickens and when i finnely found some i brought them back home builded a fence and put them in i go hunting and when im back there all freaking gone, im like wtf! how do you et them to stay inside the fencing :x

You need to have a chicken coop. Chickens placed on the ground will just despawn, eventually.

that sucks my wheat wasnt done yet it was ready to build but i didnt have straw i had like 20 chickens and a rooster :x

and also they seem to escape sometimes like they lag beyond the fence and then run of somethimes anyway to stop this? i lost chicks that way

Uhh... They're going to be gone if they aren't in a chicken coop.

If you want chickens to stay put until you've built a coop, just cram them into a suitably large container.

but they "decay" in a cupboard, don't they?does anybody know the decay rates of roosters and chickens?cause I have a rooster but I'm far from haven a chicken coop

I just kill 'em. I've had at least ten flocks spawn on me, so I'm content with extra bone for my stocks. NOTE: I don't kill all of them, but I'll pick off a chicken or two.

Gotta have my fried chicken dinner, ya hear?

i've had chickens in a cupboard for about 2 days, possibly a bit less, so assume 36 hours. note that if you dont leave some space under a chicken it wont produce eggs. right click on the finished coop to see the coop 'inventory'
