you can make a new character and inherit some of your dead characters stats and LP. in the creation room, read the runestone and press the inherit button.

It would be helpful if the runestone in the starter room would show the reason why the ancestor died, like:
  • eaten by boar
  • [summoned though <scent> and] killed by <avatarY>
  • forgot to put on shoes
etc.

If you don't know why you died, then you're doing it wrong. As for summon kills, that is what murder scents are for. No need to hold everybody's hands all the way through college.

i kind of like this idea, reminds me of oregon trail. doesn't the runestone disappear after you inherit though?

A running record in the creation room of how your past relatives died would be funny, though I don't like the idea of freely giving away the name of whoever killed you. Tough break! Go figure that one out on your own. :)

It most certainly would. It's a bit hard to properly specify and determine a cause of death, however, and also to propagate it through all those function calls actually leading up to the actual death of a character. I'm working on it, though.

I don't like giving away his name either, but I have considered adding him to the decendent's kin list under a generic nickname or such, so that one can it least recognize the face of one's ancestor's murdered when stumbling upon him.
