How do i kill Foxes/Boars

I'm hidding behind a fence schooting at the Fox hitting 34-80 damage everytime i schoot for the past 10 minutes now the health bar or whatever it is of the fox wil not go down and it won't die...
Edit : So i just killed it,but how do i know when its near death and alive? the health bar always stays full....

Those two bars represent attack and defense. You won't actually be able to see their HP meter at all.

When they're near death, they tend to take off running. Or at least attempt to.

I'm also a bit new in fox-hunting.

Do I need high marksmanship for using sling+stones?

I've cought fox behind tables, have sling and stones (sling q16, stones q10), my marksmanship is low, only 2.

Q: Will I be even able to hit fox?
Q2: When fox is hit, is dmg shown? I only hear sound like "pheew" when i shot stones at her

You don't need high marksmanship skill value, but the bar needs a WAY less time to get full, if you have at least 30.
Q: Of course, there's always a chance.
Q2: Yes, it is. The sound you hear shows that you missed the fox.

I've raised immediately marksmanship to 10 and already improvement. I have 15 now i think it will do for first learning phase.

I was able to hit fox for 25-35 or so and since she has 200 hp (lvl10) it would die in 30min
