How do i dig for clay?

I've been walking around rivers and lakes digging in the shallow water in all spots, i even tried staying in 1 spot and digging over and over again, i only get 1 clay about every 30 minutes, and yes I have the pottery skill. Is there a faster way?

Yes. Don't stay in one spot. Get a boat and check once per minimap. You'll eventually run across a clay node; then you can search every 5-10 spaces until you find where it maxes in quality.

wow, Building a kilirn will take forever.

No it won't. You just have to find a clay node first. Then you can get dozens to hundreds to thousands of clay, depending on how large the node is.

I can sympathize. I built my first cabin without checking for the availability of local resources, and when it came time to build my kiln, I spent ages scrounging on the river banks and cursing at the used-up mudflats.
