Prospecting in cave needed?

Postby Jaldart » Thu Jul 15, 2010 6:10 am

I finally got some rustroot, and am prospecting. Nothing found...

I found a cave while foraging. Will prospecting detect minerals inside the cave? Or do I have to go into the cave and Prospect inside?

I only have three torches. I assume candles can be carried and used as light source? Which lasts longer?

Thanks in advance,
Jal

Enter the cave to prospect it. You won't need your torches though.
One prospecting at the cave entrance (inside) will reveal if there are any minerals to be found in it. (If you get a hit, it is possible though, the mine site is in another cave nearby).

Maybe, some caves are so large, that prospecting the entrance will not fully cover it. But most caves are small enough to be prospected at their entrance.

Since the topic has been brought up. I have a question. When you prospect in the cave and happen to find minerals, can you put a mine hole in the cave or is it just mineral nodes already there that you can chip away at for minerals?
