Most players think it's acceptable, but there are plenty of "vigilantes" out there who will track any scent they happen to see, and kill you if they can.
Also, many hearthlings have died because they've stolen from claims they thought were abandoned, but really belonged to active players.

In short, be very careful about leaving scents.

To me, broken palisade and far less plowed ground than visible crops means abandoned, and I consider it fair game. I doubt people seriously track trespassing scents with murderous intent, but I also doubt people will take too kindly seeing people snooping about on their claims.

The glue takes a day to dry, yes. But in this case, why do you need a ram? If the palisade is rotted, just walk right in. :P

I think he means it's not actually broken yet but is pretty close.

Try circling the sides to see if there's any indication of abandonment by any of the structures rotting internally.

Some folks are just really, really lax on repairing their walls because it is a tedious and boring affair.

Indeed fuckers like that act like there fair and square because they don't steal and stuff.
But as a mather affect there even the worst scum in this whole game i learned the hard way by getting killed by tresspassing my friend hes village and a villager just tought it was okay to travel al the way to my town and kill me...

Only thing that works for this fuckers is a big fat wall and a rune stone saying "BOOM YOUR DEAD" and while there reading that rush them to death!
