Silkmoth

alright so silkmoth eggs are supposed to be of random quality, if you hatch higher quality eggs do they result in higher quality silkmoths which can in turn be bred for even higher quality eggs?

Also what skills/resources would effect the quality of the moths/eggs/worms/silk thread?

Yeah, you can raise quality through selective breeding. Worm quality can be lowered if the table and/or mulberry leaves are of lower quality, higher quality table and leaves can't improve a worm. Filament q is same as cocoon q, thread depends on filament q and spinning wheel q, and cloth on thread and loom. Working with silk takes sewing and psyche.

From what I know, only the ranger gear uses psy when working with silk (also napkin/tablecloth, but all symbel uses psy anyway). Sewing most definitely affects the quality of the filaments you make (your sewing needs to be WAY higher than the filaments, I'll be damned if somebody can figure out the cocoon->filament formula), can't confirm the weight of dexterity. Also confirming that water and fuel quality have zero weight in silk, and I'm fairly certain cauldron doesn't matter, either.

Well, I can't say with certainty that psy is involved in crafting threads and cloth, but it'd explain the need for sewing higher than thread q. Have you tested by trying to craft filaments with tobacco and booze buffs and without them, using same materials? If not, I think it's worth a shot to test it, since it kinda makes sense for sqrt(psy*sewing) to be the softcap, or even third root(psy*dex*sewing).

q77 cocoons, 121 Dexterity, 121 Sewing, 27 psy = q76 filaments
q77 cocoons, 121 Dexterity, 131 Sewing, 27 psy = q77 filaments

I can confirm also that threads and cloth aren't affected by psy. We tested both, two pairs of identical filaments/threads crafted by one person with low psy, and one person with super high psy, and the products turned out at the same quality.
