Deal with a griefer

Postby YOle » Sat Jul 17, 2010 8:09 am

Okay, last two weeks I've been really into this game and I've managed to build up quite a nice little estate for myself and a little buddy. I logged sometime around 3 am last night and I logged in half an hour ago (barely 5.5 hrs offline) to find our farm, for the lack of a better term, ransacked. Everything that wasn't nailed down and had any semblance of value was taken, up to and including some 20 bottles of wine, two cheeseracks, a full cupboard of carrotcakes and 4(!) cows. Now it is my opinion That it was either a single man with a wagon, or a single man working all night(:S), or a band of griefers. Since there is a claim on a part of our land, but there appear to be no scents on it, how do I find this man/these men? Also there is still some stuff left over, so could it be that they are coming back? Should I just sit tight and wait?

I am not so good at fighting nor do I have good stats in that manner, so I doubt that I'll be able to do any damage or anything, but I would like some closure. If someone draws that much enjoyment from taking all the valuable possesions others have worked hared for, at least let him kill me so I have nothing tying me to the game anymore.

On an unrelated notice, are there any villages looking for settlers? :)

Unless you don't have ranging skill, you wont see scents. If you do and turned it on and keep "re-rolling" and see not even 1 theft scent (assuming stuff stolen was on your claimed tiles) then someone you gave permission to vandalize and theft stole the stuff. Or he was in a party of people who stole everything.

Correction, it's two of them and I found their house, with all my items. I need help from a high level ranger to take revenge. You can take anything you like from my stockpile if you help me retrieve it.

Do you know where you are? I would come help if you did, and it wasn't too incredibly far.

Well not exactly, I know i need to rack up about 40 agi in order to quicktravel from a nearby abandoned village to nople. I'm ~30 now. I will compile a map from gladkovs client minimaps I have collected and try to mark as many familiar landmarks as I can. Maybe you could identify my location from it? I'll pm it to you as soon as I can.

You want to be a thief and a criminal, that's your prerogative. It's my prerogative to be a hunter and a ranger. I don't kill without scents, and I don't collect scents without information. I won't be killing you unless you're a criminal. There's absolutely nothing wrong with what I do.

Reading failure + Logic failure = Oblivior (whose name is surprisingly appropriate).

The guy said his place was claimed.

And simply because someone hasn't claimed something that makes it OK to steal from it? Just because there is no criminal justice process doesn't remove the moral implications.

Stealing a cow should be punishable by death in my opinion. Taming is a time consuming, joyless bastard.
