Is it possible to tame 2 animals at once or not?

It should be. Unless memory fails me, it should be possible to tame as many as you can keep ropes for in your inventory.

I thought it broke once you unequipped the rope? I know 2 works, never tried more than it although I'm aware of the keeping animals tied, I thought the rope had to be equipped, awesome for next time a new tameable animal comes out.

As long as you can carry as many ropes in your inventory it will work for more than 2. However, each animal becomes 'bound' to a specific rope. For example if you are taming 4, you have two ropes equipped, do the taming dance on 2 animals, then you would have to switch out the ropes in your hand slots. And then when the first 2 animals agro again, you'd switch equipped ropes back to the ones you used the first time.

if i'm remembering right you can also leash more than 2 cows this way - leash, unequip rope, put rope in inventory, repeat until all are leashed and following you

I was aware of the leashing but not the taming. This is extremely good to know for a circumstance in which I'd have to tame more animals, many thanks.

Taming 2 animals at once contains a somewhat good bug.

The bug can sometime reset's the other's timer on quell the beast where it isnt agro'ing you when the other one's resets/
