A Few Questions

Postby ahref » Sun Jul 18, 2010 11:19 pm

Hello, Started playing H&H a few days a go with some friends, Due to friendly neighbors and a large abandoned place we found we've got a good little settlement going. However I have a few questions about some finer points relating to the game.

1. Should i hide my hearth fire miles away from my settlement? Right now its inside my land claim?
2. Could someone give me the sort of stats ill need to have a chance of killing a boar?

Also requiring some advice,

So we recently put a cellar into each house which left a load of stone boulders lying around, we put them outside our claim, inviting our friendly neighbors to take a few for stone. Today i leave my house and find a guy clearly wearing armor, Carving every boulder into a rune-stone and en-scribing it with the same phrase, I asked him nicely to stop and to use the stone for better purposes but he continued.

I moved a few boulders inside our claim at the request of a friend who needed stone. He said that wont stop me and then tresspased onto my claim and removed a boulder.

at that point i sorta lost my temper and asked him not to be a Fa***t, to which point he threatened to wreck my settlement and kill everyone in it, I aplogised stated i didnt want trouble. He then logged out on the spot saying hell be back.

Basically im paranoid that we got off on the wrong foot and that whilst im sleeping hes still gonna rampage through my stuff and make a mess/kill us.

He claims to own a nearby town, which looks dead.

How should i proceed? i thought about leaving my own runestone with a message for him?

1. I think that's pretty unnecessary.
2. 20 marksmanship, and a little perception boost is never a bad thing.

About the griefer... I don't know. Try not to get yourself killed, keep your most precious item on your char. If he makes more trouble, try moving really far away. Can't help you any more then that, sorry.

1) As the before post said, you don't need to. But if you want it to be safe, You're able to build Hearth Fires in a building. Just put it in the Cellar of your house.

2) I would suggest a Palisade etc. The griefer would then try something more serious, but it will take a while. You should know if anything happens.

Advice:
~~If he doesn't leave you alone, do as before and move away.
~~Don't give into his games. You're the better person, and let him know that.

That's about all I can say for now. Good luck :D

This kinda makes me wonder - what's to stop some griefing alt from going off on an unholy quest to turn every boulder he can find into a runestone? Besides having a more productive use for all that free time, I mean. It takes a whole hell of a lot more resources and effort to build a house and a cellar than it does to just gleefully Build > Stone Working > Runestone. A newbie starting off in the wilderness might be in trouble on the off-chance they happen to start off in a runestone-infested area.
