farming and baking is quite good. hunting is great as well, though slightly less reliable. my best advice is: do whatever you want to advance your stats and settlement, you'll get plenty of LP along the way.

Carrots are one of the better, safer methods for fast perception gain without combat ability. Just slide your Nature/Industry slider a little closer to Nature and plant some carrots. Due to how fast they grow (I've heard as quickly as 4 hours) just a single seed will balloon into a full garden overnight and then you'll be in perception gain heaven.

If you're decent at combat and can get a ceramic sausage maker, then lamb sausage gives a lot of perception. I'd advise against this method though since it requires outrageously good exploration to track down all the different types of clay necessary to make it. It requires every kind of clay in the game to make the sausage grinder.
