How do I get a crossroads sign to Constantinople?

I've been using someone else's crossroads for some time now, but it looks like they've gone inactive and their crossroads will likely stop working, cutting me off from trade. I'm about set to start my own village so that I'll have my own crossroad and be more self-sufficient. The crossroads I've seen all had signs to Constantinople, so I imagine they're not that hard to get. Can someone tell me how to get one of my own?

There was another village nearby that I had been using to travel. That person went inactive and sometime after that the village claim died and their crossroad seemed to stop working... Is it possible to remove the signs but leave the post? Maybe that's what happened.
