Finding a Mine

How hard is it? I am in the central grid and I went north for about 5 hours on boat and found nothing at all..

How far will I have to go to find a minable spot?

You'll need rustroot extract and the prospecting skill before you can begin searching for a mine. In which case, just pinging randomly will likely yield you no useful results. Assuming you knew that and were using the prospect skill to actually search for a mine, then your odds are much higher on a mountain or in a cave than just out in the middle of the forest somewhere. Given the nature of this, most mountains have been claimed for this reason.

If you continue to search as you are, you are likely to never find a mine.

You need to go to the edge grids, and build a camp there. Check every day to see if the invisible wall has expanded or not. As soon as it does, be ready to prospect.

i know of like seven abandoned mines. They seem pretty easy to find to me...
