i fill my kiln up with wood to the max and then started cooking my teapot and mug now they're done and i cant seem to turn off the blaze is there a way to or does it have to burn out all the wood?

They have to burn out, best to only fill things with as much fuel as you need.

... It's more environmentally friendly.

As time passes you learn what items take how many branches/fuel. As suggested, once you learn them, just put in the amount required so as not to waste, this is pretty important when you begin using HQ fuel and you don't want to waste good HQ trees parts that took you forever to work up to.
