Village Architecture Thread

Postby ciroth » Sun Jul 25, 2010 9:27 am

(Hope right thread, it is also a How to build and how to make a good village design kind of thread)

Hello everyone,

After walking past many dead villages with poorly built security and designs, I thought maybe we could all share different architecture designs from everyone's village for other villages to see and consider into their designs and future improvements. As more designs and blueprints are given, i will try to list in the table of contents. Please criticize and pointout flaws or improvements in designs! I will start off with something i recently completed

Before i start, another plug in of thread by Avu on village defence.

This thread is basically just built upon the foundations in the village defense thread. While some designs here will be for security, village life, and cosmetic.

Table of Contents:
1. Ivalice Village: Loading Dock + Wagon Gate + Mailbox

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

Image

Purpose: Allows you to haul in materials, goods, and other large objects in bulk without exposing your inner village or fort from outside people camping to rush in. For max security you should have 2 alt characters (Gatekeeper 1 and 2) each holds 1 key to the inner and outter gate. Outter gate allows temp. storing of animals and materials. Once unloading is complete, outter gate is shut and inner gate is open and materials can be moved into the village safey or hauled in on a use basis.

Wagon gate:
Purpose: Aesthetics and Low level gate/security. This will keep wild animals from wondering inside and just a cool thing.
Source: i got the design from was viewtopic.php?f=12&t=9747 Props to L0ckAndL0ad!
How to Build...
X--X--X <- 2 gates and 3 cornerpots. Once built do this
X-- --X <- break down the middle cornerpost. Then you want to build another gate right behind and tear both corner posts of the single gate down.

Mailbox:
Allows players to contact you without having them to waste stones and whatnot. Gate open = no message, Gate closed = messages. Birch baskets = empty partchment, Wicker = in-box. This is placed right outside your village claim. What i forgot to show is the village claim is everywhere except the mailbox area

RESOURES:
