Authority is equivalent to the village's health points, it drains everyday due to the village claim buildings you have, and is replenished by performing pretty much any lp-gaining action, from harvesting to paving to fighting.

Village Authority. It's required to do various village-related things & to keep your village from being taken over by another person.

I find the wiki useful, and answers most commonly asked questions such as this one.

As much crap as people give the wiki, it still answers 95% of all the common questions asked fairly accurately and saves everyone time. Most of the time, it breaks down to people being unwilling to check things themselves. Honestly, you're about as likely to get an accurate answer here as you are from going to the wiki anyway.
