How do I turn Gray Clay into Bricks?

The wiki says any type of clay can be made into bricks. But I cant get the Gray clay to go into the Kiln. Whats up with that?

Because Gray Clay can be acquired in bulk by simply boating down a few rivers. Rather than searching out a far flung mud flat and getting one clay.

if you dig on the shores you'll find a quality clay spot eventually that has a ton of clay in it. It is the best source for clay for bricks.

Clay can be hard to get in bulk if you're not in a good spot. When I first started out, I built a cabin before scouting the local resources and found out too late that the only local mudflats were picked clean down to q10, and I was lucky to get a single piece of clay from riverbed digging. Made building a kiln look like a Herculean task until I pulled up stakes and moved to another supergrid.
