Need a prospeting guy

As the title says, I need someone with prospect.
I'm building a village with me and my 2 brothers (without an idol... we have no clue how) and we'd like a mine.
However, it'd be kind of ridiculous to pay 5k LP to get 1 single mine entrance, thus I'd like to get some help from someone regarding this.

One slight issue though, is that I don't know how you could get to our city

No, we don't have the rustroot.

Also, you can just build a mine without prospecting, can't you?
I thought prospecting solely existed to find a spot with minerals.

Absolutely. You can also dig into the cave walls if you need instant ores. (If the walls have minerals obviously.)

Though it isn't recommended to waste all of those materials to build a mine hole and then find out it's nothing but stone. I would suggest atleast acquiring the rustroot before asking for someone to prospect. Everyone is already killing each other for mines.

If stone is mineral, I don't mind wasting hours just to mine and have the entrance in our city rather then somewhere else but with higher chances of minerals.
Also, how on earth am I supposed to find rustroot, if I can't even find carrots to up my perception? XD

Wouldn't say easy, but yea, it's achievable.
Doesn't mean I should just spend it all on a skill I'm going to need once, if someone else could just lay an entrance for me without any costs for him.

You won't just use it once. Mines are not infinite anymore. On top of this, there are several ore types. Silver and Gold can't be prospected for which means they're entirely luck based, and finally, ore quality now matters in the smelting formula and totally destroys it, so you'll want to find higher quality ore if at all possible.

You're going to be prospecting a lot. Considering once you're able to mine and have some pickaxes you'll be making 5k mining in around 2 minutes, you may as well just buy it.
