I've sadly seen remnants of it's effect on full grown adults outside of the internet.

5 College age kids on a bus actually discussing the plot on the bus, they made sure not to say My Little Pony but said 'Friendship is Magic' several times, I turned around and was frightened when I saw they looked like normal people and if they never opened their mouths I would never have known.
