Just an FYI: Everyone that applies will get a PM, be it good or bad. So if you haven't heard from me it just means we are still reviewing your application and chasing up the last four places you worked, checking any prior political affiliations, medical records, and blood type.

So...Melsonia pretty much are against liberty and freedom and the elevation of the individual over the collective hoard. Therefore the individual is reduced to a replacable cog on a replacable wheel and is but a mindless, rightless, insignificant nothing?

it seems to me that Melsonia appeals to those who lack the ambition, drive and skills necessary to succeed in a free capitalist economy, where individuals that are self reliant strive without the "government" assistance and manage to thrive.

Where does this place exist? Nice in theroy when things are going well but when the shit hits the fan people will always turn to their government to bail them out.

Socialism doesn't enable liberty or freedom? Mkay then! And yes, we are against the free capitalist economy; in Melsonia the rich do not get richer, and the poor generally do ok.

I don't want to be rude but if you or anyone else wants to discuss the merits of socialism could we do it via PM or another thread? I don't really want things derailed into a political discussion.

hi.
may i ask what kind of socialist you are?

i guess the range is from
a peacful hippievillage where everything is shared (especially the women) and everything is decided by group
and
a council and soldier government, which owns everything and wants to destroy all bourgeoisie

We try to allow people to share freely between themselves, but if we were going to be a true hippie village we would end up in the position of the loudest members advancing the fastest while the quieter folk flounder on their 12 INT, thus ending up in an anarchic capitalism. This is where the state comes in. Its main role is to exercise the power of veto (i.e. Don't build that road there, that's the ranch), to deal with external matters, and to distribute resources where they are most needed.

The distribution usually takes the form of getting the bakers to save extra blueberry pie for certain people, or letting the wine makers know we're running low. Nothing too intrusive, it's more a matter of making sure everything is running smoothly.

As for external matters, we maintain a mandatory military enlistment where all citizens are required to be at least passingly familiar with the Manly Arts of Killing. You can't be free without the capacity to defend it, after all. We also maintain good relations with our neighbours and the majority of the outside world, bourgeois pig or not.
