Re: ROOKIE Farmer looking for setlement to live in and work

Postby bitza » Wed Apr 27, 2011 12:39 pm

hi, i'm not interested in taking in anyone at this time, but i do have some advice for you:

the first thing you may want to think about is, in your 'looking for settlement' post, is that a decent village is going to want to know what you can bring to the table. a good village is going to want someone who can help with production, expansion, and maintenance.

congrats on buying the farming skill, but if you have low farming, you're not going to be marketable as a farmer. i'm sure many villages out there are looking for general labor. people to chop wood, build things, dig clay, pave roads, etc. generally speaking you'd be rewarded with equipment and 'mentorship' (teaching you about new stuff), so to speak, in return for helping with the menial tasks.

the thing about living in a village vs. living by yourself is, that in a successful group, people aren't devoting 100% of their time to themselves. there are days that i get on that i just want to hunt mussels and flotsam, but x, y, and z need to get done in order to achieve community goals so instead of doing things to advance myself personally, i'm doing things to advance the community.

if this doesn't sound like your type of thing (and it's definitely not for everyone), i would suggest living on your own for awhile and getting a better grip on the game. it looks like you've only been playing for a couple of days, and villages are more apt to take in people who already know the finer details of this game.
