MMO veteran seeking village please thanks

Postby Scagweed » Wed May 04, 2011 9:18 pm

I'm just a 25 year old Alabama boy that finally got my power back on after the tornadoes tore down all the power lines and decided to give this game a try, and I love it, it's like oblivion with the whole sandbox open world thing going for it. Anyways I am just wondering around in the wilderness right now trying to find a place to hide until I can join a village, so feel free to drop me a pm or post, thanks, and here's some basic questions about me answered, thanks for reading. Oh ya and i don't care to help out on village projects and stuff.

Age: 25
Country: USA
Languages spoken: English
Previous village experience: was in 2 or 3 villages in wurm online
Preferred tasks: dunno yet, still trying out the game
Current skill levels: working on them
Average play time per week: 30-40 hours

The end :))

Meaning you wouldn't mind doing so, or you do not wish to do so?

Suggestion, get your level of understanding of the game pretty high first.

You seem genuine so I'll let you know:
Most big villages will not recruit people new to the game even if you've played tons of MMOs or if you're X X X and Y.
Why?
- HnH has a lot of things you'll find down the road that will make you want to quit because it's in alpha
- HnH will have a lot of things come out that will make you want to quit, because it's in alpha.
- Having you join the `main` village usually comes with some risk, need to make sure the person is known to some extent first.
- Having you actually secure your own place within the village (claim, brickwall, mansion) and all the basics usually takes more time than is desired and will make you not want to play
- - After seeing you not wanting to play and not on for a while you are a potential security risk, or you'll be kicked and pissed later
- Some hearthling (mostly children) decide to wreck shit when they quit because they hate the game/village rules
- No one wants to deal with that guy who has a million questions and is plopped into a village and unable to do anything. (OMG NO trees? Guys how to get out? What is CR? Unable to travel???)

For these and a few other reasons it's undesirable to recruit someone who just started, instead it's better to let them either live their hermit life a bit, or watch them progress as they join smaller towns. Unless of course you know someone IRL or something, or have played many other games with them and are cool like that

If you decide however to join a smaller village in the mean time, but want to eventually join a larger one you should probably watch out as joining a town that goes raiding and stuff probably won't look good when you later decide to join a town that may be more peaceful, or defensive.

Fucking hate this shit, but he is indeed right.

Maybe live as a hermit for a while and once you get a grips of the game start to look for a village than.

one piece of advice from me...
this game is NOT wurm online. TREES DO NOT REGROW. and dont cry for not having non pvp server.
i still remember a guy, who called himself a wurm veteran, cut down the whole q40~50 tree area with a q5 saw, leaving blocks and boards everywhere on the first day he joined our village.
