Newish player looking for village/town/group

I've been playing on-off for a couple days as a hermit. Haven't really run into anyone besides finding a other hermit spots with beds and baskets and whatnot. I'm working on getting my skills up, but so far haven't had a whole lot of luck running into a lot of resources (mainly animals and roots). I'd really like to get into a nice community where I can build up my skills and contribute in whatever way possible. I'm in the US and in the Pacific time zone.
