Semi-Experienced Hearthling, Seeking Northern Settlement

Postby AngryMarine » Mon Jun 27, 2011 11:41 am

Hey there H&H folks, semi-experienced player on the lookout for a village here. I'll just give the lowdown and let you take it from there.

Background
Been playing since world 4, and have experience with the low- to mid-tier gameplay; but thus far haven't encountered many non-violent, english speaking people in-game and so have been stuck in the hermit-zone.

In terms of experience....
I've killed a bear, built a claim and palisade, trekked across the entire game world, given a shot at mining and crafting, done my fair share of cooking, more than my fair share of farming and foraging, been killed by bears, boar, auroch, water, russians, koreans, americans, and combinations thereof...

... buuut, I've never had a skill over 100 (until recently, woohoo), have been too scared of cave-ins to do any real mining, had my ass handed to me in combat and generally suck at making small talk (particularly while working).

One FYI: I do not commit crimes of any sort, have not, and have no intention of changing that; with the exception of defending a settlement/comrade, if required.

What I'd Like to Find
A relatively-active, english-speaking village in one of the Northern-border supergrids, preferably one which doesn't have much/any drama or issues with their neighbors and which does have a decent resource pool, to start a new character at and work with the community.

What I have to offer
I am on EST, though hours of play fluctuate wildly (as does my schedule); but I tend to pull at least the equivalent of a few hours each day.
That said, I am the type of person who can appreciate a 'quota' - if there is work to be done, tell me what share is mine and it *will* get done, assuming I am given a reasonable amount of time.

I really hope to find some decent people here, as (I can tell you from personal experience) H&H really isn't all that interesting when you go weeks at a time without seeing another person in-game.
If you're interested in a new addition, send a PM and we can talk.

IRL? Mid-20's.

As I would be using a new character, they would be at the defaults; or at whatever was desired/needed for my work.

See above.

(I feel I should note here: I do have an alternate character, but they are entirely engaged in my personal claim and would not be likely to be involved in any new endeavors until such a time as I was certain of the good-intent of my new hosts and/or their skills and resources were greatly needed.)

What's wrong with south, east and west? Why the northern preference?

I've explored all through the North and I'm pretty familiar with it, hence the preference.

Had some experience in the S and W early on, and it seemed like there was more aggression the closer you get to the middle of the map (though that was probably just due to increased population density); thus, if I'm choosing a border, might as well choose one I've explored.

Not to say the other areas are bad or anything (I wouldn't really know), but I'm more comfortable in areas I know well - especially if I end up serving as a hunter or forager.
