Looking for a thief settlement

Postby Ulrika » Sun Aug 07, 2011 10:55 pm

I had an idea, but I can't do it alone. First, we build a hearth vault/ storage area. Then we put a village claim inside. Members of the village can quit the village and destroy their hearth fires to warp to random parts of the map, where they find places to loot. Then they contact the lawspeaker, who adds them to the village again so they can warp back. Warp somewhere random, steal until your pockets are full, get added to village, warp back to village, rinse and repeat.

Are there any villages like that I could join? I -could- set one up using alts, but that would take a while. I guess I could also try setting one up with real people. First I'd build the hearth vault, then I would invite people to join after they proved their trustworthiness trough a rite of passage.

I don't think you're gonna get much by just stealing newbie settlements that don't even have walls. And how are you going to prevent getting tracked down when the LS is offline and you can't port back to the vault?

We could steal from more organized places too, we would just need to be able to palibash or bring materials to build a battering ram with us (and not leave scents until the ram is ready, of course). And can they track you if you don't have a hearth fire?

They can summon u anywhere if u dont have a HF and are offline, alternatively they can track perpetrator and find you. All in all, destroying ur HF isn't the best idea cause if say ur power goes out, ur dead. If the server goes down and ur not on when it comes back, ur dead.

Lmfao. I've been doing this from time to time since World 4. I call it tele-robbing. it wouldn't work if the world wasn't so huge, but if you pop up in an area near your home base, you usually recognize it, and if you don't it's probably far enough away to avoid being tracked by anything but the best trackers. For all of my deaths, not a single one has been due to tele-robbing. :P

How did you pull it off? Did you use alts? Also, do you have a village I could join?

it sounds always funny when a wanna-be-criminal needs to ask for others advice/opinions.

I use my main, have another character as chief or main, break my hearth fire, log off and log in "Somewhere in the wilderness" Pop open mini map, see if any targets are in range, if not? rinse and repeat When my inventory is full, I party my other guy, re town myself and port back to unload.

I'll probably do that. Making a thief village with multiple players is too dangerous, because the ls can't always be on and it's too easy for someone to betray us or screw up.

Well, what can I say? I'm new at this. So far I've been peaceful, I've never played as a criminal before. It would be dumb for me to just jump into it without asking for advice first. I'm not pretending to be a tough guy.
