I tracked vandalism scents to the same settlement. They came a long ways to grief people.



Seems like they're spelling "I MAD ?"

Considering their resources, it does not seem like anything short of a well organized effort or some really skilled rangers would be effective at destroying the settlement. I also spotted someone from their settlement wearing a Necromancer's Cape behind a rock, but I didn't have the chance to take a screenshot.
