Without understanding the LP system well? And understanding the sliders, having a lot of time, understanding curio's no... I don't think it is reasonable to expect newbies to all get this. Depending on where they spawned they likely didn't even have access to decent curios, with the right knowledge and placement and experience... maybe, just starting out. Unlikely.

Consider it a learning experience. Find out who did this to you, move elsewhere, learn how to gain LP faster, and then go take your revenge (if you can). Adversity can be fun too.

Knowing you need a skill doesn't mean they will know what curios to find and the ins and outs of a system. A google search "How do I claim land in Haven and Hearth" will let you know in very brief terms you need yeo... curio's take a bit more understandind, searching, and familiarity. I am not saying they are super hard, I am just saying there is room to understand how they could have not gotten enough points.

When I started, i just roamed around for a few hours. (raped by ants) After that, i learnt to read the guides on this forum and also the wiki. That thought me a lot more about LP (such as learning hunting, carpentry, foraging with 15+ explor). Of course i got raped by a boar a few times, but once I got the hang of it, my new guy just took 1 day (around maybe 10 hours of playtime) to get enough LP for yeomanry. (so effectively, Day 2 of playing HnH. By time time, i got killed then by some raiders who jumped off a boat while i was building my home. (most exciting time ever in any game).
Day 3 (reallife) Palisade up.

Edit: I got no social life. Plays 8 hours aday on HnH:P

A little bird told me that the gentleman or lady who did this has a hearthfire located at 26, 23 on the world map. It's in a log cabin on a tiny claim, surrounded by a brick wall and nestled against the only ridge in that grid square, northwest corner.

Apparently the murderer was killed by a Ranger or possibly a hungry fox as my avian friend is unable to track him/her/it anymore.

Very sincerely,

I doubt he was killed by a fox, If anything it was a bear. But it's more likely to be a ranger.
