I would like to think that most people are friendly, most of the time I meet anyone in the wild I'll say hello and stop for a chat. But I guess if you don't know the guy and can't defend yourself you're better of running

i stay brunette damnit.

no pain, it was no where close to my village, i'd been wandering for like 2-3 hours when i saw that guy in an area i'd never been in before.

besides the guy who killed u didnt stop for chats. but who knows. he had a merchants robe too

is anyone tracking the guy?

and yeah i possibly freaked a little too much, but i have no combat skills, and my armour consists of one steel plate and a bear cape and rangers boots. but if he attacked i wouldnt have a clue what the hell to do. and the charachters stats are too important for me to wait around to see if he's a friendly player or an ass like many i've met whove attempted to kill me.

when my stats were shitty i would go up to anyone and chat, guys in bandits masks, rangers gear, full armour, swords or no swords etc, and most i made friends with. most were suprised i'd stop and chat considering the risk factor etc. but right now it's survival mainly i guess

Red and Valten were "supposed" to track the guy but I'm not exactly holding my breath. If I get my agility up enough to port to the xroad, i'll come try to gather the scents and do it myself.

I haven't even been playing a full week yet but I got a bear cape so I generally tend to act tough and follow people around the creep them out and make them warp away just for the lulz

If you're gonna engage in conversation then say something like "I'm just on my way to check out a reported troll location, how about you?"

Too many hearthlings out there to really suspect one random guy. Also wrong topic.

Anyhow, if you are not sure what the intent of the person is, get on a boat and move a decent distant. That way you have some reaction buffer time while not able to be immediately assaulted. If they have a ranger bow, make sure they aren't facing you suddenly. Move away from their facing to make sure before doing so and kindly ask them to unequip it.
