You missed a part of that definition. The entirety of it reads:

Socialism /ˈsoʊʃəlɪzəm/ is an economic system in which the means of production are either state owned or commonly owned and controlled cooperatively; or a political philosophy advocating such a system.

There is still much capitalism in the USA don't get me wrong. As I said, I was being sarcastic.

I also live in America. It is not a socialist country, nor is it in any danger of becoming one.

I'm sorry I have to jump back in here.

Social Security
Medicaid
Medicare
The Post Office
TARP
Supplemental Security Income (SSI)

Unfunded liabilities for programs like this reach upwards of $111 trillion. I'd say that is a burden on our economy, wouldn't you?

And you naively say it is in no danger of becoming a socialist country. It already is jackass lol

Let us look again at the definition of Socialism:

An economic system in which the means of production are either state owned or commonly owned and controlled cooperatively; or a political philosophy advocating such a system.

None of those "unfunded liabilities" as you call them have anything to do with the means of production (note that government welfare != socialism).

Also looking at those programs 1 by 1.

Social Security - Not unfunded, is paid for by the payroll tax and in fact has a surplus currently.
Medicaid - In 2008, the U.S government spent $295 billion on this.
Medicare - Not entirely funded by the federal government, much of it is supplemental. $440 billion spent on this in 2007
The Post Office - Charges for its services.
TARP - Evidence that this government is no where near socialism. $296 billion
Supplemental Security Income (SSI) - $44 billion

So in all actuality the figure for this spending is 1.07 trillion dollars.
