Obviously the idea has issues and it's kind of dumb to talk about anyway since loftar has made it clear that he wants to completely redo siege mechanics, but it's something to talk about at least.

Its not that the devs don't want to. But you guys don't take the coding and how complex it is into consideration before ya know, actually suggest it. :idea:

No I meant "big deal" with how everyone was freaking out about it going "YOU CAN'T IMPLEMENT A CHANGE LIKE THAT MIDWORLD?!?!?!??!?!!!!!"

I understand LP nerfs and pivotal game mechanics that relate directly to character progression, where changing mid world would be a huge disadvantage to new players. (See: Mining nerf in W4) But this proposed change doesn't really affect character progression at all, and if implemented correctly wouldn't make any sort of difference to those who already built their villages along the water.

Also it apparently wasn't that hard to code because loftar already had the working code for it in place before he was begged to remove it.

indeed the changes like this can cause chaos to lots of those who have built villages near water or on island feeling safe with just patrolling once a day, while those who have built villages inland always have to patroll every 8 hrs.
i still think its unfair, but, many people did plan things ahead for their security with their playing hours in mind and i understand that. the villages far from water made their decision knowing the patrolling burdens.
maybe announcing the change a few weeks in advance may help solve the situation, but they didnt want to, and many players didnt like the idea anyways and asked not to, thus it was turned down.

whoever convinces devs wins.

and shadowchris, this raft on ram idea has already been discussed on a few threads, not just this one.

Also note, many many many beginning players ignore safety advice and build right on the water. Or villages that were confident of their ability to repel the additional attention it brings. This is along the lines of saying "Hey you know that wall you built to make you safe? The brick one? Well we're introducing cannons tomorrow. The real safe thing you should have done is build underground."

You should have built underground though.
above ground is only for cows, trees and crops.

Soil spot-> Above ground for awesome
Underground->Village

Keep in mind that being near water doesn't mean too much, maps get updated and show things inland too.
