Don't think he had to know who you were, and probably didn't. Probably just saw you and wanted your cape. As for finding just boat around and walk inland every now and then and look for hermit villages. I'd come looking but I'm lazy as hell.

Most people(like me)are too lazy to leave the boat, but some will, looking for resources and such and mess with hermit along the way.

If he memorized you while attacking, he could also check areas and see if a p claim matches your described character, or an HF does.
