Sadly i don't have many english speaking neighbors, besides some guys up north that got raided and quit..

i did meet a russian newbie earlier today, showed him around my tiny hermit camp, gave him a dragonfly and straw hat and he acted like it was pure gold, told him he could come back when he wanted, etc.

Really enjoying this thread, gives me hope that there are still nice and logical people out there, looking forward to more posts :D

Thanks for the story!
I like that even though you're just a new hermit yourself, you can still help out other players.

I've been rethinking my approach to HnH charity, lately. I think I got burned by that Ukrainian fiasco because they became too dependent on me. Now I try to start newbies out with a gift of some things that'll be immediately useful to them (usually supplies for their palisade and mid-tier clothing so they don't stand out as targets). After that, I make sure to charge them at least a token fee for further items. So they aren't dependent on gifts, they're trading. That way, I hope they'll move toward greater self-sufficiency.

I guess they're just being smart, if I can't fight back against someone the best option is just to get the fuck out of there.

This was a great thread. And great original story OP. The posts on this page are funny too! Frankly, I wonder if it was me who ported (though I went to sleep) when approached.

I live on a cliff head, and now I have a real life roomie (well he sleeps on the front lawn right now), but at the time I was pretty lonely hermit.

I never saw anyone pass by my little remote area. I bet I'm the equivalent of a dust farmer...

All of a sudden I'm in my fenced off area and a guy in purple robes I see in the distance, he pretty well books it to my encampment without saying anything. I ran to bed and slept. When I logged back in ten minutes later a single fence post was destroyed and not a single thing in my fairly large plot was missing. I had not claimed my land at this point...Using just fences and hearthfire to block entrance.

Sorry to mood kill, I feel bad...Maybe he didn't want to kill me! Better safe than sorry though.

Someone mentioned trading seeds. Honestly so far I haven't even seen other English speaking people. I only see newbies like myself. If anyone has wheat seeds they would trade me...I'd bring some Chantelles or anything that a lower level character can trade with!

It'd be fun to meet some other players! I got lucky with finding myself in the world. I (brushes finger nails) was blessed enough to spawn near a certain nintendo icon (Kirby) =P -- So identifying my location was a snap!

SO yeah!!! I actually have the best neighbors ever! Their creativity saved me literally hours finding myself on the giant world we all lovingly share.

Hey i live about 10-15 mins away (north) from the kirby landmark, my characters about 2 weeks old and since iv been in my new location iv only seen one person, but he was on my claimed land, tresspassing, and then something that looked like a sword appeared, so i logged out lol when i logged back in he had broke all my cupboards with all my stuff to build palisade in them :x

Anyways, getting to the point ;) i got some spare wheat and other seeds i could pass your way and wouldnt mind meeting other friendlys, i have a spare backpack as well if you havnt got one so you get more inventory slots when out foraging

send us a pm and i'll send you my coords if your still looking for seeds and what not

its good to read threads like this. world 4, i had awesome neighbours. i played as a hermit and was trying to look for a friendly place to set up, and ended up trespassing a claim which looked friendly just to see if anyone was around to talk to really! and this russian guy followed me and asked what i wanted etc, and i explained. he was really nice, showed me a camp with some english speakers, since his english wasnt too good and i set up there.

later that day i started building my place, and he came by to see how i was, built my house with me, paved the area, tables/cupboards, fenced it off, and would set everything so i could build for the lp till i had enough for yeomanry. later bought me a crate of food etc.

after being the stupid newb that i was with the java client i got killed by a boar. so he bought me armour, a good q sling, leather armour etc, so that i wouldnt get killed so easily. later he helped me set up a palsiade since ppl kept stealing from me. and every few days he's bring me a dead animal:D

later he introduced me to a new village which i'm with now in world 5, because someone left me a death threat, and he though theyd help protect me. they gave me equipment and high quality seeds and were great with advice etc.

really liked world 4.

world 5 has been relatively decent, as a non newb (kinda) i've tended to help new players, when i can, at least with basics, like getting a backpack, sling, etc because they do take time when uve jsut started and havent set up properly.

although i have also had 2 death attacks by random peple and been killed once in a raid, and beein inside a village after a raid, about 3 times...apparently not everyone is so nice:)

I just recently started playing. After wandering around in the wilderness for a little while, I cam across an abandoned cabin by a river. I cleaned it up, started farming, and generally had everything going pretty well.

I eventually claimed it, but I didn't build a wall, because I was young and reckless. One day, a guy with a huge battleaxe sailed up to my claim and hailed me. He asked, in broken English, if I was Russian. I told him no. He then said "If I find out you are Russian I destroy everything here. Cut down on your nose." (?!?)

I don't know if that incident was related to what happened a few days later, but I logged out for twenty minutes to feed my dogs, and when I came back, everything was either stolen or destroyed. Cabinets were gone, tanning tubs, herbalist tables, my bee hive. Everything.

Fortunately for me, I'd been talking to someone who apparently lived near me. He saw a screenshot I'd posted, and recognized my claim. He let me come live with him, inside his palisade. Now we're bros.

That counts as a friendly neighbor story, right?
